I call this delightful combination of sweet and salty tastes my leprechaun snack mix. To me, it’s as special as a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow!

Let’s stir up some Lucky Charms snack mix!

The leprechaun food snack mix is super easy to put together. Really, it’s just a matter of measuring out some ingredients and giving it all a good swirl.

You can even substitute some of your favorites in place of my ingredients.

Making food for St. Patrick’s Day that demonstrates the holiday is a great way to set the mood. Try these Bailey’s Irish Cream Truffles for another tasty holiday dessert.

What goes in this snack mix?

I used some of my favorite snacks, plus candy in a yellow and green color – yellow to mimic gold coins and green, the color that symbolizes St. Patrick’s Day.

I wanted both salty and sweet flavors, so I used nuts, pretzels and popcorn as the base of my mix. Mini marshmallows added more sweetness and a nice soft texture. 

The secret ingredient in the trail mix are the charms from Lucky Charm cereal. These small bits add a bit of Irish luck to the bowl.

Bells, fish, arrowheads, clovers, pink hearts, orange stars and yellow moons have a marshmallow texture and add both sweetness and color to the mix.

You’ll need these ingredients to make your trail mix:

  • Popped Popcorn
  • Mini pretzels
  • Green Sixlets
  • Raw almonds
  • Green peanut M&Ms
  • Lucky Charms – only the charms
  • Lemonheads candy
  • Mini marshmallows

Put all of the ingredients for the St. Patrick’s Day snacks into a very large bowl and mix, mix, mix. What could be easier than that?

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of popped popcorn
  • 1 cup of twist pretzels
  • 1/2 cup of green Sixlets candy
  • 1 cup of raw almonds
  • 1/2 cup of green peanut M&Ms
  • 1 cup of Lucky Charms cereal - (only the charms)
  • 1/2 cup of lemonheads candy
  • 2 cups of mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
  2. This snack mix keeps well in a sealed container for several weeks.
