Discovering September national days and history

Remember the old poem to help us remember how many days are in a month? There are a few versions of the poem, but this is the most popular one

“Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November,
all the rest have thirty-one.

February has twenty-eight,
but leap year coming one in four
February then has one day more.”

September is the ninth month of the year in our calendar. In the Northern Hemisphere, it comes at the end of summer, with fall just around the corner.

However, in the Southern hemisphere it is associated with the approach of spring.

September kept its original name from the Roman Calendar, where “septem” means 7. The month was originally the 7th month, when the calendar began in March.
