How to make the whipped cream ghost garnish for our Ghostbuster cocktail

While the ghostbusters cocktail and garnish take very little time to make, be sure to put aside some time to make the whipped cream ghosts garnish, since they will need to be frozen before use.

When I plan to serve this drink at a Halloween party, I make the ghost garnish early in the day and freeze them. Then make the drink as the guests arrive and just pop a ghost into each one. Easy peasy!

Combine the sugar and whipped cream

  • Add the whipped cream and sugar to a bowl.
  • Whip until stiff peaks form.

Whipping some cream.

Transfer the whipped cream mixture to a piping bag

  • Place the whipped cream mixture into a piping bag.
  • Twist the top of the bag to push the cream down towards the tip of the bag.
  • Cut off the tip of the icing bag.

Pipe the ghost cocktail garnish

I used a silicone baking mat as the base on which to pipe out my ghosts. This type of mat can be put into the freezer and the ghosts will be super easy to remove later, after they are frozen.

I used a silicone mat with little circles on it (meant for cookies) that allowed me to keep my ghosts uniform in size as I piped them.

  • Start piping in a swirling manner making the base larger and the ghost shape smaller as you pipe towards the top. Once I had done a few, I got pretty good at it.
  • Don’t worry if the ghosts are not perfectly even. They will be sitting in liquid and their haphazard shapes are part of the fun of the garnish!

Add the edible eyes

  • Use tweezers to attach the edible eyes to the top of the ghost shape.
  • Once again, they don’t have to be perfectly even. I made my eyes lopsided on purpose to give them a funky look.

Freeze the ghostbuster cocktail garnish

  • Place the silicone mat on a cutting board or baking sheet and put it in the freezer for at least an hour. Longer is fine.
  • I had some ghosts in my freezer for a few days before I used them and they kept their shape and color perfectly.

Ghostbuster cocktail ingredients

The drink is a cinch to prepare. It is a delicious blend of three types of alcohol to make a bewitching Halloween potion:

  • 2 ounces of vodka – 2 ounces
  • 1 ounce of Baileys Irish Cream
  • 1 ounce of Kahlua liqueur

Kahlua, Vodka and Bailey's Irish cream

Mix the Ghostbusters cocktail

  • Add enough ice to a cocktail shaker so that it is half full.
  • Pour in the Bailey’s Irish Cream, vodka and Kahlua.
  • Shake well.
  • Strain the drink into a chilled martini glass.

That’s all there is to making this Ghostbuster cocktail!
