Let’s make the whipped cream ghost garnish for our Ghostbuster cocktail

The ghostbusters cocktail takes very little time to make, but put aside some time to make the ghosts, since they will need to be frozen before use.

When I plan to serve this drink at a Halloween party, I make the ghost garnish early in the day and freeze them. Then make the drink as the guests arrive and just pop a ghost into each one. Easy peasy!

To make the ghosts, you’ll need these ingredients:

  • Heavy whipping cream
  • Sugar
  • Edible eyes

Add the whipped cream and sugar in a bowl and whip until stiff peaks form.
Whipping some cream.

Place the whipped cream mixture into a piping bag. Twist the top of the bag to push the cream down towards the tip of the bag and cut off the end of the icing bag. Whipped cream in a piping bag with a black pumpkin candle.

I used a silicone baking mat as the base on which to pipe out my ghosts. This type of mat can be put into the freezer and the ghosts will be super easy to remove later, after they are frozen.

My silicone mat had little circles on it (meant for cookies) that allowed me to keep my ghosts uniform in size as I piped them.

Just start piping in a swirling manner making the base larger and the ghost shape smaller as you pipe towards the top. Once I had done a few, I got pretty good at it.

Don’t worry if the ghosts are not perfectly even. They will be sitting in liquid and their haphazard shapes are part of the fun of the garnish!Ghost shapes with whipped cream, pumpkin, shaker and cocktail.

Using tweezers, attach the edible eyes to the top of the ghost shape. Once again, they don’t have to be perfectly even. I made my eyes lopsided on purpose to give them a funky look.Eyes on whipped cream ghosts.

Place the silicone mat on a cutting board or baking sheet and put it in the freezer for at least an hour. Longer is fine.

I had some ghosts in my freezer for a few days before I used them and they kept their shape and color perfectly.

Making the Ghostbuster cocktail

The drink is a cinch to prepare. It is a delicious blend of three types of alcohol to make a bewitching Halloween potion:

  • Vodka – 2 ounces
  • Baileys Irish Cream – 1 ounce
  • Kahlua liqueur – 1 ounce

Kahlua, Vodka and Bailey's Irish cream

Add enough ice to a cocktail shaker so that it is half full and pour in the Bailey’s Irish Cream, vodka and Kahlua. Shake well and strain the drink into a martini glass. That’s all there is to making this Ghostbuster cocktail!Ghostbuster cocktail with pumpkin nd cocktail shaker.

To set the Halloween mood, add a whipped cream ghost to each cocktail and serve. Whipped cream ghosts in a creamy drink, with black candle leaves and bottle of potion.

This Halloween inspired cocktail is smooth and creamy with a hint of coffee flavor. The ghost is slightly sweet and has an extra crunch from the edible candy eyes.

It’s fun and whimsical and sure to put your party guests in a ghost fighting mood.
