St. Patrick’s Day is quickly approaching! If you need an easy holiday drink, look no further than this green mimosa recipe. It has only four ingredients, and is sure to wow your guests.

Come March 17, you’ll find the color green is everywhere, and for good reason! Green is one of the colors of St. Patrick’s Day, along with blue, orange and white.

Green is featured in many of the symbols of St. Patrick’s Day including shamrocks, leprechauns, parades, corned beef and cabbage, and the iconic green beer found in bars this holiday season.

If you’re not a fan of beer, our recipe for a St. Patrick’s Day mimosa is a perfect alternative.

This easy St. Patrick’s Day drink is a variation of the classic mimosa cocktail. It uses only four ingredients to produce a festive St. Patrick’s Day cocktail.

  • Champagne or prosecco – It doesn’t matter which sparkling wine you use, either one is fine!
  • Pulp free orange juice – Freshly squeezed orange juice has the best flavor, but be sure to strain it so your St. Patrick’s Day drink doesn’t have pulp.
  • Blue Curaçao liqueur – This liqueur is made in Curaçao from lahara fruit. It has an orange flavor to it, even though the hue of the liqueur is blue.
  • Edible glitter – This ingredient is optional, but it makes the St. Patrick’s Day cocktail impressive looking, so we recommend adding it.

This green mimosa is a stunning drink by itself, but if you want to add to the visual appeal, you can scroll down to see our mimosa garnishes.

How to make a green mimosas for St. Patrick’s Day

Of you’ve ever made a mimosa before, you’ll know how easy this cocktail is to make. Gather your ingredients and follow the instructions below. You can also scroll down to the bottom of this post to get a printable recipe card and recommended supplies to make this green mimosa.

  • Pour a splash of blue Curaçao liqueur into a champagne flute (roughly half an ounce).
  • Add a pinch of edible glitter to the champagne flute.
  • Fill the champagne flute half way up with orange juice (roughly 2 oz). Make sure your orange juice is pulp free, because no one wants a pulpy cocktail!
  • Top with champagne or prosecco (roughly 3 oz) and enjoy responsibly!

If you have any issues with the edible glitter not being evenly distributed, you can always gently stir this St. Patrick’s Day mimosa with a straw, but adding it early should cause it to mix evenly when the other green mimosa ingredients are added.

St. Patrick’s Day mimosa garnishes

Since this Saint Patrick’s Day drink is served in a champagne flute there isn’t a lot of room to garnish the glass, but there are a few creative mimosa garnishes you could try.

A St. Patrick's Day mimosa recipe with mimosa garnish that looks like a rainbow and two clouds.

  • Candy rainbow garnish (shown above)- Turn this cocktail into a leprechaun mimosa by making a rainbow garnish. Put a mini marshmallow on a toothpick, then stab both ends of a sour rainbow belt candy so that it forms an arch, and finish with another mini marshmallow.
  • Shamrock champagne flute – Instead of adding a garnish to the glass you could make the glass itself a garnish by serving this green mimosa recipe in a hand painted champagne flute.
  • Color changing shamrock straws – When you put these reusable shamrock straws into cold drinks, they change from clear to green!
  • Fruit wheel garnishes – You could add a fruit wheel to the rim of this St. Patrick’s Day mimosa. We recommend adding a fruit wheel that will either compliment the color of the cocktail (like a lime or kiwi), or the flavor of the drink (orange).
  • Gold sugar rim – These green mimosas would look excellent with a rim of gold sanding sugar. Or you could go for a monochome look, and give them a green sanding sugar rim.

No matter how you serve your green mimosa for St. Patrick’s Day, it will look fantastic. The mimosa garnishes are optional, and only intended to enhance the presentation of this cocktail.

  • 2 ounces pulp free orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce blue Curaçao liqueur
  • A pinch of edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

Notes

* A little bit goes a long way with the edible glitter. You only need a tiny bit to make a sparkly St. Patrick's Day cocktail.

If the glitter seems to be settling unevenly in the drink, you can stir it to distribute the glitter though the drink (make sure to stir gently, because of the carbonation in this St. Patrick's Day drink.

You can make this green mimosa recipe without the edible glitter, but including it really makes the cocktail look impressive.

** Freshly squeezed orange juice is always going to yield the best flavor.

If you're freshly squeezing your own orange juice for this green mimosa recipe, make sure to strain the orange juice through a sieve before adding to the champagne flute.

*** For the candy rainbow garnish, put a mini marshmallow on a toothpick, then stab both ends of a sour rainbow belt candy so that it forms an arch, and finish with another mini marshmallow.
