DIY Spider Ice Cubes – Spooky Halloween Drink Idea

These spider ice cubes are simple to make and so effective at setting a mood at your next adult Halloween party because spiders are a symbol of Halloween.

You’ll have all of your guests thinking you chose tricks over treats this year – especially if they’re not expecting a bug in their drink.

Halloween cocktail garnishes can make or break a drink when it comes to setting them mood. They are as much fun to make as they are to use in drinks.

Here are a few more ideas to try:

The bug ice cubes are so easy to make. They make any Halloween drink into a special one just by the addition of your ice cubes.

All you need are two supplies:

  • Dollar store spiders, cockroaches, ants and other bugs
  • Large size silicone ice cube trays

I used both plastic and soft rubber bugs to try this project. The plastic spiders were a bit large so I had to trim the legs.

I found the rubberized bugs the best, since they were soft and pliable and rose to the top of the ice cube, but all worked well.

Place a bug into each compartment of the ice cube tray. I chose super large size silicone ice cube trays for two reasons:

  1. They fit the big spiders better
  2. The ice cubes last a LONG time so the fun continues all through the drinking time.

You can see why I love the rubber bugs. The cockroaches rose to the top or side of the ice cube and were very visible in the ice cube. The cubes with plastic bugs had more bubbles in them so they had a more frosty look.

Both worked well once the drinks were added, though.bug ice cubes
